FX TERMINAL
Pair strength against weakness. The live currency strength meter ranks the eight major currencies in real time, making it easy to spot which currency is leading, which is lagging, and which pair offers the cleanest trend to trade.
A currency strength meter decomposes pair movement into the individual currencies inside it. Instead of seeing that EUR/USD is falling, you see whether the euro is weak, the dollar is strong, or both — which is the difference between a clean trend and a pair that is going nowhere while both legs move together.
The meter ranks USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, CHF, CAD, AUD and NZD live by aggregating their behaviour across every pair they appear in, so a single strong pair cannot distort the reading.
The core method is simple: pair the strongest currency against the weakest. That combination gives you the widest divergence and usually the cleanest trend on the chart, rather than a pair where both currencies are moving in the same direction.
Two cautions. First, check the timeframe — intraday strength can be the opposite of weekly strength, so match the lookback to your holding period. Second, confirm before entering: a currency at the extreme of the ranking may already be extended. Cross-check with the currency heat map for pair-level momentum and the technical outlook for structure and levels.
